Torque & Steam is launching an exciting new café inside leading Reading Gym - a high-energy, community-driven fitness space.

We serve specialty coffee and performance-focused post-workout shakes designed to fuel recovery and power performance. This isn’t a standard café role - its coffee culture meets gym culture.

About the Role
As a Barista at Torque & Steam, you’ll be the face of the café inside the Gym. You’ll serve specialty coffee to members and staff, alongside protein shakes and recovery drinks designed for post-workout refuelling.

This is a fast-paced, customer-facing role in a busy gym environment. Energy, efficiency, and attention to detail are essential.

Hours: 18 hours per week

What You’ll Be Responsible For
• Crafting high-quality specialty coffee to consistent standards
• Preparing post-workout protein shakes and performance drinks
• Delivering friendly, confident service to gym members and staff
• Managing busy service periods with composure and speed
• Maintaining high cleanliness and hygiene standards
• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the café
• Creating a welcoming atmosphere that fits the Gyms energy
• Handling online ordering

What We’re Looking For
• Specialty coffee experience is essential – you must understand dialling in, espresso extraction, milk texturing and quality control
• Experience working front of house in a busy, customer-facing environment
• Confidence engaging with customers and building rapport
• Strong work ethic and ability to multitask under pressure
• Positive attitude and team-player mentality
• Interest in fitness or gym culture is a bonus
