Bartons is a well-loved, independent café in Bermondsey — just a short walk from Tower Bridge. Known for great coffee, quality food, and a buzzing local crowd, we’re looking for a skilled, reliable all-rounder to join our team.

The Role
This is a varied, hands-on role that includes barista work and food preparation. You’ll make excellent coffee, keep service smooth and fast, and help prepare breakfasts and sandwiches from our popular menu. Full training will be provided for the kitchen side of the role, but a willingness to learn and attention to detail are essential.

You’ll also be expected to cover at least one kitchen shift per week once trained.

Key Responsibilities

Make espresso drinks to a high standard
Confidently dial in and maintain espresso quality throughout the day
Create clean latte art (heart, rosetta, tulip minimum)

Prepare breakfast items (e.g. poached eggs, pancakes, porridge, toast)
Assemble and serve sandwiches, wraps, and other light food
Assist with evening service including snacks and drinks
Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment
Engage with customers warmly and professionally
Support team tasks including restocking, cleaning and basic admin

What We’re Looking For

2+ years barista experience in a fast-paced environment
Able to dial in and pour consistent latte art
Willing to learn kitchen prep (full training provided)
Reliable, tidy, and calm under pressure
Good communicator and team player
Must be available for at least one kitchen shift per week
Able to work a mix of early mornings and evenings
Friendly and confident with customers

Shifts

3–5 shifts per week (including weekends)
Shifts between 7:30am and 9:30pm
At least one shift per week will include food prep/kitchen duties
