Somerset House Trust are seeking a number of baristas, bartenders and team members to support the delivery of café/bar service in our Exchange Café to its members and the wider Somerset House residents. You will also support the team with delivering our community events programme in the Exchange and other event spaces in Somerset House.

This role will work variable shifts across the café’s general opening hours of 9am-5:30pm Monday to Friday, as well as two evenings per week and other occasions as required in line with our community events programme.

Somerset House Exchange is a dynamic shared workspace for freelancers and small businesses in the arts and creative industries; it is currently formed of a thriving community of 400 members. The vision for the Exchange café is to act as a hub for members and Somerset House residents, functioning as a daytime café, as well as a location and catering provider for various community events, including an events bar on select evenings. Initially the café will cater to Exchange members, with the aim to then open it up to the rest of the resident community at Somerset House.

We are looking for someone who has:

Experience:

- Front of house and hospitality experience working in café / bars / restaurants or similar establishments
- Experience delivering excellent customer service as part of a team
- Previous work experience as a Barista or bartender (desirable)
- Previous experience in delivering hospitality service at events (desirable)

Skills:

- Excellent customer service skills with ability to gauge customers’ preferences
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic knowledge about H&S and sanitation in café/bars/hospitality
- Basic maths skills
- Enthusiastic to work in a creative and collaborative environment
- Ability to dial in espresso (desirable)
- Barista, food & beverages (including cocktails) knowledge (desirable)

Contract type: Permanent, Casual Worker
Rate of pay: £11.05 per hour (London Living Wage)
