Old Spike is the first social enterprise in the UK championing real social and environmental change through speciality coffee. We are on a mission to eradicate homelessness in the UK and protect the planet by launching London’s first carbon and plastic neutral café in central London.

Our first venture outside our Peckham HQ, we will be opening a new café in Piccadilly Circus and three further central London sites across the next 6 months. Each new site will provide a London Living Wage job for the homeless and support a local homeless charity with a donation-based loyalty scheme focussing on impact.

We are now recruiting at all levels for our expansion and would love to hear from experienced baristas who have a desire to turn out amazing coffee coupled with social and environmental impact. Full training will be provided but previous experience working in a speciality café environment is required. - Positive and ‘can- do’ attitude is an absolute must. - Friendly and polite customer service with excellent people skills - Ability to work at a fast-paced environment - High attention to detail – very clean and tidy in the workplace - Have the ability to motivate a team and share knowledge of best work practice. This will be particularly important when working with our homeless trainees

Coffee Experience

We are looking for someone who has worked within speciality coffee previously with a minimum of 1 year and has a true passion for coffee
Retail coffee is an important element of sales so understanding the different coffees we have available to sell and being able to speak confidently to this is important
Can easily dial in the grinder and adjust throughout the day based on different espresso offerings. Familiar with all brewing processes
Coffee machine and grinder maintenance knowledge
Great milk texturing and understanding brew ratios and extraction
Equipment

You will be working on Eagle One espresso machine, 2 x Mahlkonig E65S GBW and 1 x EK43S shop grinder
